Egg

An egg is a symbol of gestation and rebirth. It can symbolize careful work that will lead to success. Reptiles and birds both hatch their young with eggs because birds descended from reptiles. The egg is an ancient symbol of expanded awareness and powerful transformation. In many ancient cultures, eggs were shared to celebrate the new year (the origin of Easter coincides with traditional new year festivals.) The 'underworld' that the reptile inhabits is given wings to become like the phoenix that rises from the ashes.
